Delhi capitals Opener batsman Shikhar Dhawan posted a picture of himself getting vaccinated on his Official social media handle. Dhawan who was a part of the recently suspended IPL 2021, also acknowledged the work done by the frontline health workers during these tiring COVID-19 times.

He requested everyone to stay safe & get vaccinated as soon as possible to help defeat the deadly virus. Shikhar Dhawan took to Twitter to share his picture of getting vaccinated & captioned the picture as, “Vaccinated can’t thank all our frontline warriors enough for their sacrifices and dedication”. Please do not hesitate and get yourself vaccinated as soon as possible. It’ll help us all defeat this virus.”

Shikhar Dhawan had also appealed to everyone who is eligible to come forward & donate plasma in order to help people battling with COVID-19. Last week Dhawan has said that he will be donating 20 lakhs & the prize money from all the post-match individual performance awards which he has received in the IPL 2021 to “Mission Oxygen” to help raise funds to meet the need for oxygen amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

On Tuesday, the BCCI & the IPL Governing Council postponed IPL 2021 as the players & staff members of various franchises got infected with COVID-19. To ensure the safety & well-being of every individual involved in the IPL 2021, BCCI has suspended IPL 2021 indefinitely.

Amit Mishra of DC, Wriddhiman Saha from SRH, Varun Chakravarthy & Sandeep Warrier of the KKR squad were tested positive for COVID-19. CSK support staff members Mike Hussey and Lakshmipathy Balaji also tested positive for COVID-19. The members & players of franchisees were tested for COVID-19 even after following necessary safety protocols.

Earlier on Thursday, the IPL bound Australian Contingent including players & support staff departed for Maldives. The Australians will live in Maldives until the end of the travel ban from India to Australia. “CA & the ACA extends their sincere thanks to the BCCI for their responsiveness in transporting the Australians from India to the Maldives in less than two days after the decision to postpone the IPL 2021 indefinitely was taken”, said Cricket Australia in its Official Statement.
