Delhi Capitals opener batsman Shikhar Dhawan on Monday posted a video on his Instagram handle where he is teaching his teammates Ravichandran Ashwin & Ajinkya Rahane few Punjabi dance steps.
Sharing the video Dhawan mentioned how difficult task it was for him to teach both the cricketers dance steps who are shy & also added that it will “take a while to get them into the rhythm”.
“Teaching my two teammates a few Punjabi steps but it’s going to take a while to get them into rhythm. Lovely to see those dancing since they are usually shy. Always have fun and keep the kid inside of you alive,” Dhawan’s post read.
Dhawan who is a north Indian it was easy for him to perform Bhangra well though the same can’t be said for the other two players Rahane & Ashwin who came from Mumbai & Chennai respectively & struggled to replicate the Bhangra steps with same finishing as Dhawan did.
Dhawan was a part of Delhi Capitals since last season while Ashwin & rahane joined the side after their trade-offs from KIXP & Rajasthan Royals ahead of annual IPL auction last year. Ashwin had led KXIP in IPL 2019 while Rahane was Rajasthan Royals skipper last season but was removed from his role after Rajasthan Royals disappointing performances in the previous IPL season.
Despite of having experienced cricketers in their team, Delhi Capitals is being led by young captain Shreyas Iyer who is the youngest captains among all the teams. Under his leadership Delhi has ended on third position in the points table in last year’s IPL season. However with the inclusion of experienced players like Rahane and Ashwin, Delhi Capitals are definitely looking in a better shape and will be interesting to see if they can win their maiden IPL trophy this year. Delhi Capitals will face KXIP led by KL Rahul in the opening match of the IPL on September 20 in the UAE.
