Smith is full of Praise for Samson & Stokes who stitched a Winning Partnership of 152 Runs!

RR captain Steve Smith is overwhelmed following a match winning partnership of 152 runs between Ben Stokes & Sanju Samson.

Samson & Stokes unbeaten partnership helped RR to register a mind-blowing defeat against MI with a huge margin of eight wickets in yesterday’s crucial match of the IPL 2020. RR franchise was handed a spectacular target of 196 runs after MI posted a total of 195 runs with loss of five wickets. The chase could have been very difficult for RR if it was not accompanied by Stokes & Samson’s smooth partnership who smashed the ball confidently to all corners of the ground.

The RR’s captain stated that he was “extremely pleased” with the performances of the duo which helped the team to successfully surpass the sword of elimination from the IPL 2020 playoffs by hailing victory. Stokes scored his second century in the IPL with Samson registering his half century in the ongoing IPL 2020.

“Very pleased, that’s what we’re crying for, use the experience, take the game deep and that’s what both Stokes and Samson did. The wicket was playing good, the ball was coming onto the bat, there was intent – the shots were flowing, they just played good cricketing shots – I thought the partnership was fantastic,” he said during the post-match press conference.

Steve smith urged the batsmen to build on the confidence form yesterday’s chase & play the knocks which could help RR to emerge victorious & secure their place in the IPL 2020’s playoffs.

“We played some good cricket in the first half, the dropped chance proved to be costly, perhaps we ended up giving away another 40-45 runs, but it didn’t matter in the end. I hope our batters take the confidence from this match and play knocks which will help the team win,” he added.

Earlier Mumbai Indians posted a stunning total of 195 runs off 21 balls 7 60 runs by all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Hardik hit two boundaries & seven sixes during his innings. Jofra Archer & Shreyas Gopal were the star bowlers for RR who scalped two wickets each for the team.
