The ECB on Tuesday announced the England Women’s Central Contract for 2021-2022. Seventeen contracts have been awarded to the Women players with Sophia Dunkley receiving her first central contract.
The contracts are from May 1, 2021, to October 31, 2022, in order to align with the professional contracts at the eight regional teams. Jonathan Finch, the director of England Women’s Cricket said in an official release, “We are pleased to confirm a strong group of centrally contracted England Women’s Cricketers ahead of a really exciting two years for Lisa, Heather & the team. The central Contracts, along with the roll-out of professional women’s domestic contracts, provide a fantastic opportunity to develop a larger pool of players pushing for selection & help to strive for success on the field for England Women”.
“We have continued to work closely with the England Women’s Player Partnership & the PCA to establish an objective process that underpins the awarding of Central Contracts. We will keep working in collaboration for the benefit of the players as we continue to grow & develop the professional women’s cricket”, Jonathan added.
England Women’s team will lock horns with the Indian Women’s team in a bilateral series comprising of a one-off test match, three T20Is & three ODIs. The test match will begin on June 16 at Bristol. Then both the teams will face each other in three-match ODIs starting from June 27 with the matches slated to be played at Bristol, Taunton & Worcester.
Finally, the two teams will come into a face-off in a three-match T20Is starting from July 9. The three T20Is will be played at Northampton, Hove & Chelmsford. The third T20I match which was scheduled to be played on July 15 will now be played one day before on July 14 in Chelmsford.
