The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has announced the cancellation of Asia Cup 2020 due to the increasing havoc of coronavirus pandemic.
The BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday announced the cancellation of the Asia Cup, which was scheduled to be held in September. “Asia Cup 2020 cancel ho Chuka hai, Joh September me tha (Asia Cup, which was to be held in September, has been cancelled),” Ganguly told ‘sports tak’ in an Instagram live session.
The Tournament is Cancelled for this year while it is highly predictable that the T20 World Cup which was scheduled to be held in Australia in the October-November window would be called-off due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. Asia Cup’s cancellation gives the BCCI opportunity to have a full-fledged IPL in the Asia Cup’s schedule.
The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly celebrated his 48th birthday on Wednesday & the cricket fraternity flooded the social media with heartwarming wishes for the former left-handed batsman. Cricket Australia also took to their Official twitter handle to pay a tribute to Sourav Ganguly by sharing one of his iconic knocks that came when he played against Pakistan.The video was from a One Day International from a triangular series featuring India, Pakistan & Australia. The match was played in Adelaide in 2000 where the former Indian skipper smashed 141 runs against Pakistan super bowling attack.
Ganguly ended the tri-nation series as the leading run-getter for India scoring whopping 356 runs at an impressive average of over 50. Ganguly in his 16-year long International career represented country in over 100 tests.
