The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly took to twitter to congratulate team India for their efforts which helped them to claim a hard fought draw in the third test match at the SCG.
Chasing a huge total of 407 runs & facing several injuries, India’s batsmen showed great teamwork to beat the Australian bowling attack to keep the series level at 1-1. Cheteshwar Pujara & Rishabh Pant played spectacular knocks to put the pressure on the hosts on Day 5 of the third test match but the two got out & then Ravichandran Ashwin & Hanuma Vihari came on field to handle batting who was battling a hamstring injury played hard & washed out the bowlers & helped team India to register a memorable draw.
“Hope all of us realize the importance of Pujara, Pant and Ashwin in cricket teams..batting at 3 in test cricket against quality bowling is not always hitting through the line ..Almost 400 test wickets don’t come just like that..well fought india..time to win the series,” Ganguly tweeted after the match.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah also congratulated the players on their performances.
“‘Cometh the hour, cometh the man, and cometh the team’. Extremely proud of #TeamIndia for putting up a fight on Day 5. Special mention to @RishabhPant17, @Hanumavihari, @cheteshwar1 & @ashwinravi99. Well done, guys! Hello Brisbane,” he tweeted.
On Day 5, team India was trailing Australia by 309 runs after losing both the opener batsman. Captain Ajinkya Rahane also got out early on the final day & with Jadeja battling a thumb injury, India’s batting was looking in trouble & Australia were looking forward to take the lead in the series. But Pant played a stupendous knock of 97 runs while Pujara scored spectacular 77 runs before Ashwin & Vihari’s valiant efforts which helped India to claim a hard fought draw in SCG test match.
