Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith has been fined for maintaining a slow over rate against Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020.
Steve Smith has been fined 12 lakhs as this was first offence of Rajasthan Royals of maintaining a slow over rate in the IPL 2020. “As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Smith was fined 12 lakh,” read an official statement. Rajasthan Royals was not able to chase a target of 194 runs & was bowled out for 136 runs losing the match by 57 runs at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Only Jos Buttler was performing well with his bat for the Steve Smith led side as he played a knock of 70 runs. Bumrah emerged as a star bowler for Mumbai Indians as he returned with an outstanding figures of 4-20 in his four overs. Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a whopping score of 193/4 as Suryakumar Yadav played an unbeaten knock of 79 runs from 47 balls. Hardik Pandya & Rohit Sharma also played useful knocks of 30 & 35 runs which helped Mumbai Indians to post a competitive target of 194 runs.
With this gigantic win Mumbai Indians went on top of the points table by scoring eight points from six games whereas Rajasthan Royals got slipped to seventh position in the Points Table. Rajasthan Royals will next face Delhi Capitals on October 9 while Mumbai Indians will face Delhi Capitals on October 11.
