Dean Jones has suggested moving the T20 World Cup to New Zealand where the guidelines of social distancing are easy as compared to other countries.

Former Australian batsman Dean Jones said that the T20 World Cup should be played in New Zealand as the country’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has decided to ease the social distancing guidelines. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be played in Australia in the October-November window but the fate of the World Cup is not yet decided due to the ongoing coronavirus. “Jacinda Ardern said NZ could move to alert level 1 next week, which means all social distancing measures and curbs on mass gatherings will be lifted, she said. Maybe play the T20 WC there? #justathought,” Jones tweeted.

Earlier New Zealand Prime Minister announced that there will be no social distancing needed on the planes under Alert level 1. As per the guidelines gathering, restrictions will be removed & all the current COVID-19 rules on businesses & services will be lifted under the alert level 1 however border restrictions will still remain in place, As per the report in stuff.co.nz.

New Zealand Cabinet is expected to decided next week on whether the country will move levels or not. Last week the ICC has put the decision of the fate of T20 on hold till June 10. All International Cricket has been suspended since March due to the deadly coronavirus.
