Team India started their preparations for the first test match against England which will start from February 5 with their first net session on Tuesday in Chennai.
Head Coach Ravi Shastri was seen addressing the Indian team players who surrounded the coach at the MA Chidambaram stadium. “Day 1 of our nets session in Chennai and it is Head Coach @RaviShastriOfc who welcomes the group with a rousing address,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a tweet and posted two pictures of the team huddle.
Earlier on Monday, the Indian players hit the ground for the first time after completing their quarantine period & testing negative for COVID-19. Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel among others were seen warming up last evening. The second test match of the test series will be played in Chennai &is due to start on February 13.
The last two tests of the series will be played in Ahmedabad & the BCCI is looking forward to allow fans inside the stadium for the last three tests. The second test match will have 50% crowd in the stadium, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) secretary RS Ramasaamy told news agency ANI on Monday.
“We have spoken to the BCCI, we will get official approval for 50 per cent fans by today evening,” Ramasaamy had said on Monday. The test matches will be followed by five T20Is all will be played in Ahmedabad at the new Motera Stadium – and three ODIs in Pune.
The England team also completed their quarantine on Monday & all the players of England’s squad tested negative for COVID-19. They will start their training as a group from Tuesday in Chennai.
