With COVID-19 cases found in the KKR contingent, the BCCI has asked the players & support staff from the Delhi Capitals squad to go into isolation.
Delhi Capitals faced KKR on April 29, where DC won the match to emerge on the top spot of the Points Table. The team is not sure of going ahead with the scheduled practice session on Tuesday. DC & KKR are set to face each other on May 8. Delhi Capitals last played a match on Sunday when they faced PBKS.
KKR players Varun Chakravarthy & Sandeep Warrier who are tested positive for COVID-19 are currently under isolation & recovering. KKR also updated their fans through Instagram that both the cricketers are recovering well & are in good spirits. Delhi Capitals are currently on the top spot of the Points Table with registering six victories & two defeats.
Three Australian players pulled out of the IPL & went back home due to the rising scare of COVID-19 in India. Adam Zampa, Andrew Tye, and Kane Richardson went back to Australia after the Australian government issued a ban on direct passenger flights from India till May 15.
Also, two staff members & one bus cleaner of the CSK contingent have tested positive for COVID-19. Due to this Wednesday’s clash between CSK & KKR is set to be postponed. Speaking to ANI, a BCCI Official said that CSK & RR match is likely to be postponed with CSK Bowling Coach Balaji again tested positive for COVID-19. The BCCI is also planning to move the rest of the IPL 2021 matches to a single venue in Mumbai.
“Coming to the IPL, we are looking ahead to move the base to Mumbai, but are awaiting clearance from the Maharashtra Government & once that is done we will be good to go ahead according to the plan. It will take us another couple of days to get the clearance from Maharashtra Government”, the Official said to the media.
