The first T20I of India & England was not less than a roller coaster ride for ‘Men in Blue’ who suffered a massive defeat by 8 wickets from England. In the first T20I one of the major attraction was India Captain’s getting out at 0 for a duck.
Virat Kohli tried to hit Adil Rashid delivery by lofting him inside-out but ended up lobbing the ball up to Chris Jordan at mid-off who took a simple catch. Uttarakhand’s Police used Virat Kohli’s dismissal as an example to advise the readers against rash driving. Uttarakhand Police’s witty tweet on Virat’s dismissal is doing rounds on social media.
The Uttarakhand police tweeted a picture of Virat Kohli walking off the pitch with his helmet still on his head with a witty message written on it in Hindi that reads, “Just wearing a helmet is not enough. It’s imperative to drive with total concentration, or you can also get out on zero like Kohli.”
India suffered a batting collapse & only Shreyas Iyer had played a rescue act to steady India’s innings by scoring a half-century which helped India to reach an average total of 124 runs. England chased down the total comfortably in just 15.3 overs with eight wickets to spare.
For England Jason Roy led the chase by scoring 49 runs off 32 balls. Roy’s innings comprised of four boundaries & three sixes before being trapped LBW by Washington Sundar. However Roy’s dismissal was too late as by the time he departed, Jonny Bairstow & Dawid Malan helped England to chase the target & took a 1-0 lead in the series.
