India Captain Virat Kohli hailed team India’s historic win over Australia in the Gabba test by calling it as an “exemplary performance” and said the team’s “grit and determination” were the standouts in the victory.
Chasing a huge target of 328 runs India on the back of Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 89, Shubman Gill’s 91 runs & Pujara’s patient 56 runs achieve the target with less than four overs remaining in the Test. “WHAT A WIN!!! Yessssss. To everyone who doubted us after Adelaide, stand up and take notice. Exemplary performance but the grit and determination was the standout for us the whole way. Well done to all the boys and the management. Enjoy this historic feat lads. Cheers,” wrote Kohli on Twitter.
Virat Kohli who left for India after the first test on a paternity leave after the first test in Adelaide, watched the whole action from sidelines as India won their second test series in Australia. Both the teams had come into the test having won one game each. Though India had faced a drastic defeat in the first test which Australia won they bounced back stronger in the next game in Melbourne to level the series.
The third test in Sydney was a draw after Ashwin & Hanuma Vihari both suffered with injury yet batted for more than a session on the final day to save the match. In Brisbane Australia took a lead in the first innings after dismissing India for 336 runs in response to their 369 before Mohammed Siraj’smaiden five wicket haul restricted the hosts at just 294 runs.
The game headed for a draw but Pant & the entire team with grit & sheer determination clinched India towards victory & thereby won the series.
