Indian Captain Virat Kohli praised Ishan Kishan by calling him as “a fearless character” after Ishan Kishan’s swashbuckling 56 runs off 32 balls helped India to beat England in the 2nd T20I match by huge seven wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Virat Kohli who himself scored 73 runs off 49 balls became the first player in Men’s Cricket to reach 3000 T20I runs applauds Kishan for his calculated strokes. “Special mention to Ishan the way he batted. I tried to do what I can but he kept following his instincts and it was a quality innings on debut,” Kohli said after the match.
“When you play in the IPL with such dominance like he has… He is a fearless character and he knew that he was hitting the ball well. He is very calculated and not restless,” Kohli added.
Ishan & Kohli duo together added 94 runs to India’s scoreboard for the second wicket in just nine overs as India comfortably chased England’s total of 164 runs & sealed victory with more than two overs to spare.
“Today that counterattacking innings from him and that partnership was needed,” Kohli said of his partnership with Kishan. India’s victory was also a contribution of some good bowling efforts from Washington Sundar (2,29), Shardul Thakur (2, 29), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/28) and Yuzvendra Chahal (1/34).
After restricting visitors to an average total, Ishan Kishan started the onslaught with bat right from the start of the innings even though he lost his opening partner KL Rahul on 0 for a duck. Ishan Kishan & Suryakumar Yadav were the two debutants who made debut in 2nd T20I for India on Sunday.
