With India defeating England in the third Test match Virat Kohli successfully overtook MS Dhoni to become the Indian Captain with most Test victories on home ground.
Kohli now has 22 wins at home ground in 29 Tests as Captain. MS Dhoni finished his career by registering 21 wins from 30 Tests at home ground. India won by 10 wickets on Day 2 of the third test in Ahmedabad & have taken a 2-1 lead in the four match Test series against England. It is worth noting that Virat Kohli is India’s most successful Test Captain with 35 wins.
In the Pink ball test which was a bizarre according to Kohli, India wrapped up a victory inside two days & will now be facing England in the 4th Test starting from March 4 at the same venue. 17 wickets fell on a single Day 2 with spinners from both the teams removing batsmen with ease. India had to chase a small target of 49 runs in their second innings & it was not a difficult task for India’s openers Rohit Sharma & Shubman Gill. Rohit Sharma hit a six to seal victory for India.
The pink ball test was also pacer Ishant Sharma’s 100th Test match whereas Ashwin reached the milestone of 400 Test wickets by becoming the fastest Indian to achieve this feat. Moreover, Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers who registered another five wicket haul right in his second test. His dismissals included some big names such as Zak Crawley (0), Dom Sibley (7), Jonny Bairstow (0) and Joe Root (19).
The glorious victory has also taken away England’s chances to make it to the finals of the World Test Championship Final. If India manage to not lose the final test match in Ahmedabad they will easily book a berth in the final of WTC where India will face New Zealand who had already qualified for the finals.
