India Captain Virat Kohli on Tuesday lost his cool at Shardul Thakur after the pacer was slow to react on the field which allowed England to score an extra run during the third T20I.
Defending an average total of 156 runs against a strong England batting line up in Ahmedabad, Kohli knew that India had to keep the bowling & fielding tight to put some pressure on England & keep themselves in the game. In the 12th over, Jonny Bairstow nudged the ball to the leg side & Shardul Thakur was slow to react & when he get to the ball he sent back a wild throw that went towards cover rather than at either of the stumps. It allowed England to run two comfortably, and the India captain was not pleased.
Virat Kohli was heard having a word with Shardul before giving him a glare. The seamer was seen explaining himself apologizing before Kohli responds with a few more words.
Watch Kohli’s heated moment here:
Virat Kohli had earlier scored a brilliant unbeaten 77 runs off 46 balls to steady India’s Batting line-up & drag the team towards an average total of 156/6 in allotted 20 overs. The last 50 runs of his knock came in just 18 balls as he smashed England’s bowlers at the death overs. However a swashbuckling half century by Jos Buttler took away whatever little hopes that India have held going into the break.
Jos Buttler’s attack India’s bowlers in the Power play especially Yzuvendra Chahal & continued his on-slaught with bat even after the initial six overs get, until England occupied a comfortable position. Despite of Jason Roy & Dawid Malan losing their wickets very early & very cheaply, Buttler kept England on track. Bairstow provided him with the support he needed as England wrapped up the hosts to seal an eight wicket win in the 19th over to tale 2-1 series lead.
Jos Buttler finished his innings on 83 runs not out off 52 balls while Jonny Bairstow scored 40 runs off 28 balls. The two teams will now face each other in the 4th T20I on Thursday.
