India Captain Virat Kohli & Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma are among the India batsmen who has climbed up in the ICC Men’s T20I Player’s Rankings after winning the T20I series against England with 3-2 in Ahmedabad.
Kohli who has scored an unbeaten 80 runs off 52 balls as an opener had also stitched a 94 runs partnership with Rohit Sharma to set the platform for victory in the fifth T20I & has moved one place up to the fourth position & is now the highest-ranked player from India ahead of KL Rahul. Rohit Sharma’s 64 runs off 34 balls in the 5th T20I has helped him to move three spots up to 14th place in the latest weekly rankings update which also included three-match Afghanistan Zimbabwe series in Abu Dhabi apart from the last two matches of the India-England series.
In the other benefits for India’s batsmen which should come as encouraging news since they host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup later this year, Shreyas Iyer has moved up five places to his career-best 26th spot while Suryakumar Yadav & Rishabh Pant also made rapid progress. Suryakumar Yadav who debuted in the second match of the T20I series, but could not garner any points as he didn’t get an opportunity to bat he has reached 66th position after scoring 57 & 32 while Pant has moved up to 11 places to 69th spot in the ICC T20I Rankings.
Bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has moved up to the 24th spot while Pandya has reached 78th place. Leg spinner Rashid Khan has lost his top spot as he conceded 7.60 runs in an over in the series. South Africa’s spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has grabbed the number one spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Rankings for the first time in his career.
