Virat Kohli will lead the ODI squad after successfully leading team India to a 3-1 series win in the tests & a 3-2 win in the five-match T20I series that ended on Saturday. All the three ODIs of the series will be played in Pune with the final two games scheduled on March 26 & March 28. Ahead of the series, Virat Kohli said that Rohit Sharma & Shikhar Dhawan will open the innings for India in the ODI series.
Virat Kohli had promoted himself to the opener’s spot in the fifth T20I in Ahmedabad & that further lead to questions about whether Kohli will be seen opening on regular basis for India in the White-Ball format. On Monday Virat Kohli said that opening batting for India isn’t guaranteed in all the matches.
“As far as opening batsmen are concerned, Shikhar (Dhawan) and Rohit (Sharma) will definitely start the innings. They have shown consistency in their performance in the last few years. It’s not guaranteed that this is going to be considered in the future”, said Kohli when asked whether he will be seen opening for India in the upcoming matches.
