Finally!! India captain Virat Kohli has revealed the reason for not using Hardik Pandya as a bowler in the ongoing ODI series against England.
In the second ODI, which India lost by 6 wickets there were calls made for utilizing Hardik Pandya as a bowler but Hardik was not called upon to bowl even a single over. After the match, Kohli has revealed that Why Hardik Pandya was not utilised for bowling in the ODIs though he had bowled the full quota of four overs in the T20I series against England.
Explaining the reason Kohli said, “We have to manage Hardik’s body. We need to understand where we require his skill set. Did utilize him in the T20Is but in the ODIs, it’s about managing his workload. We have Test Cricket in England coming up soon. So it’s important for us to have him fit for Test cricket”.
Hardik has impressed everyone with his bowling spell in the T20I series & had displayed a match-winning bowling attack in the 4th T20I against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Later this year, India & England are scheduled to play a five-match Test series in the UK.
Jonny Bairstow & Ben Stokes has played brilliant knocks of 124 & 99 runs as England defeated India by six wickets with 39 balls to spare in the second ODI to level the three-match series at 1-1. The decider ODI will now be played on Sunday. Earlier, India scored 63 runs in the last five overs to finish their innings on 336/6 in 50 overs. KL Rahul hit a stunning 108 runs off 114 balls whereas Rishabh Pant & Virat Kohli hit spectacular half-centuries.
