Virat takes responsibility for dropping some crucial catches as KXIP defeated RCB!

RCB Captain Virat Kohli’s performance in yesterday’s match was not up to the mark which contributed in RCB loss against KXIP by drastic 97 runs. RCB captain dropped KL Rahul’s catch two times which proved very costly for the Kohli led side.

Kohli first dropped KL Rahul’s catch when he was in his 80’s as a result Rahul went on a rampage at the death, finishing unbeaten at 132, as KXIP went on to score 206. The outstanding scores of KXIP proved very costly for RCB as they suffered an early collapse in batting order with none of their partnership worked meaningful resulting in RCB’s drastic defeat against KXIP. Kohli is the first one to come ahead & take the responsibility for all the thrashing & team’s poor performance. He admitted that because of his two dropped catches the opponents got chance to score some crucial extra runs which resulted in RCB’s loss.

“I think we were pretty good in the middle phase with the ball. I have to stand in front and take the brunt of it,” Kohli said after the match. KXIP were at 143 runs when Kohli dropped Rahul’s catch for the first time & at 156 runs Kohli dropped Rahul’s catch for the second time in the same over. Kohli’s dropped catches proved the main reason for RCB’s defeat against KXIP.

“Cost about 30-40 runs,” he said, speaking about his dropped chances. “If we’d restricted them at 180 we wouldn’t have felt pressure to go from ball one.”

“There are days when you have these kind of things happen. Just have to accept them,” he said. Kohli said that after a huge loss RCB needs to work towards fixing the mistakes they made.

“We’ve had a good game, we’ve had a bad game. Time to move on. We need to learn to plug those little mistakes,” Kohli said.

The right handed batsman got dismissed on just one run scored in five deliveries which further contributed in RCB’s low scoreboard. But Virat is good enough to find out positives even from negatives. “We did pretty well, especially closing in on the second time out and just after that. But as I said, should have led from the front with those two chances,” he said.

RCB will next face Mumbai Indians in their next match on Monday at Dubai International Stadium
