Deadly coronavirus pandemic has brought the whole world to a standstill which also postponed major sporting events across the globe. Talking about upcoming World Test Championship Azhar Ali supported Misbah-Ul-Haq suggestion that the WTC should be extended further amid the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic.

“If hopefully in the near future cricket is possible and the health of people is not compromised, I am sure that every cricketer will say we should get cricket back on, even if it is behind closed doors”, Azhar Ali said in a video conference with reporters. Pakistan Test captain Azhar Ali has backed the head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq’s suggestion that the World Test Championship should be postponed in the wake of the global Pandemic. According to him cricketing activities should commence in the future but not on the cost of the health of players or spectators, “even if it is commenced behind closed doors” but with full care of the health of players and spectators.

“Hopefully in future cricket is possible to be commenced but the health of the people should not be compromised, I am sure every cricketer will say we should get back on the pitch even if It is behind closed doors”, Ali Azhar said in a media conference to the media reporters.

“There is no sport coming on TV right now that people can watch. They will be happy to see the sport back on TV. Right now people’s health is very important but if we can conduct sport without compromising on the health of players and spectators than I would support it”, Azhar Ali is very confident that ICC will do the needful. “I am sure that the ICC will look at this. The test Championship was a long competition so I don’t think it would be a big issue to extend the series if it cannot be held at the scheduled time. I support extending the Test Championship”, he added.

Azhar Ali’s statement came after Misbah-ul-Haq supported an extension of the World Test Championship in order to provide a fair and equal play to all teams.
