WTC Final Live Updates: There is a piece of bad news for all the cricket fans who were eagerly waiting for the start of the WTC final. The first session of Day 1 of the ICC World Test Championship Final between India and New Zealand has been called off, due to the continuous drizzle in Southampton.
The BCCI in an update on Twitter informed that wet outfield & consistent rain in Southampton has forced the 1st session of the WTC final to be called off.
Taking to Twitter BCCI tweeted, “Update: Unfortunately there will be no play in the first session on Day 1 of the ICC World Test Championship final. #WTC21“.
Along with both teams, the entire world has been waiting for the start of the marquee clash between New Zealand & India. But now it seems like fans have to wait further as rain doesn’t want to ‘go away’ so soon in Southampton.
The New Zealand Cricket has also updated the fans about the current situation in Southampton through Twitter. The Black Caps tweeted, “With the Match Officials confirming there will be no play before lunch at the Hampshire Bowl as rain continues to fall the wait continues in Southampton #WTC21”.
Dinesh Karthik who is doing commentary at Ageas Bowl is also giving continuous updates on weather at Ageas Bowl. Taking to Twitter, Dinesh Karthik tweeted, “To all those in India googling about the weather, it’s still windy and pouring in here. Rain Gods are not in the mood to miss the first day! #WTCFinal“.

According to the Weather Forecast, there is around a 65% chance of rain on the first day, followed by 60 percent on Day 2. Day 3 sees a drop in the prediction with a 56 percent chance of rain, with 65 percent on Day 4 and 63 percent on Day 5. The weather forecast of Reserve Day i.e. June 23 has fewer chances of rain.
