NZ vs WI 2nd T20I: New Zealand overpowered West Indies in the second T-20I to take an unassailable 2-0 lead and clinch the three-match series. A breathtaking batting performance and stimulating bowling attack helped the Kiwis to overcome a resilient Caribbean squad in Jamaica.

Mitchell-Phillips 83 run stand guides Black Caps to a powering Total
New Zealand lost two quick wickets at the power play in the form of Martin Guptill (20) and Kane Williamson (4). Aftermath, Devon Conway (42) and Glenn Philips (76) came to the rescue as the two registered a scintillating partnership of 71 runs for the third wicket. Conway’s dismissal made no difference to the Kiwis as Philips continued to flourish and built another stronghold partnership of 83-runs alongside Daryl Mitchell (48). The duo guided New Zealand over the 200-run mark in the allotted 20 overs.
For West Indies, Obed McCoy starred in the bowling attack by scalping 3 wickets for 40 runs. Romario Shephard (1/26) and Odean Smith (1/30) chipped in a wicket apiece.
West Indies string of Poor Performances seems never-ending
Chasing a mammoth total of 216, West Indies succumbed to a thunderous bowling performance by New Zealand and managed to score only 125/9 in their 20 overs. West Indies suffered major blows in the start as the top order collapsed with Mayers (4), Brooks (7), Pooran (1), and Thomas (1) getting dismissed in single-digit figures. The middle-order tried to recover from the woes of a sluggish top order performance but failed to align their efforts to a victory.
Holder (11) and Powell (21) added 35 runs for the sixth wicket whereas tailenders Hayden Walsh Jr. (10) and Obed McCoy (23) recorded an unbeaten partnership of 38 runs for the last wicket as New Zealand registered a marvelous victory by 90 runs.
For New Zealand, spinners Mitchell Santner (3/15) and Michael Bracewell (3/15) did the trick by bowling stupendously. Tim Southee (1/34) and Ish Sodhi (1/36) grabbed a wicket each. The final T-20I of the series is scheduled to take place on Monday, August 15 at Sabina Park in West Indies.
