PAK vs AFG Live Score Asia Cup: Zadran’s blistering knock was a ray of hope for Afghanistan

The match unfolded with Pakistan winning the toss & asking Afghanistan to bat first. Batting first, Afghanistan got off to a brisk start as both openers Hazaratullah Zazai & Rahmanullah Gurbaz took Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners right from the first ball of their innings. The duo stitched a stable 36-run stand before Haris Rauf struck to remove Gurbaz for 17 runs off 11 balls. Soon in the fifth over, Hazratullah Zazai was sent back to the hut for 21 runs off 17 balls, reducing Afghanistan to 43-2. Then came Ibrahim Zadran on the crease & along with Karim Janat kept the scoreboard ticking for Afghanistan. However, in the 11th over Pakistan sent Janat back to the hut for just 15 runs.

After Janat’s dismissal, Afghanistan’s wickets fell like a pack of cards as Najibullah (10), and Nabi failed to hit the straps. As a result, Afghanistan’s innings got reduced from 78-3 to 91-5 in 15 overs. But Zadran at the other end was going strong & led the fightback for Afghanistan. He scored a powering 35 runs off 37 balls to keep the scoreboard ticking for Afghanistan. In the end, Rashid Khan (18 off 15) & Azmatullah (10 off 10 balls) played quick cameos to help Afghanistan finish at 129 runs total in the allotted 20 overs. For Pakistan, the best bowler was pacer Haris Rauf who returned with two wickets for 26 runs.

Naseem Shah’s late flourish did the trick for Pakistan

In reply, Pakistan got off to a disastrous start as they lost Babar Azam (0) right on the first ball of their innings. Followed by Fakhar Zaman in the 4th over reducing Pakistan to 18-2. However, Mohammad Rizwan along with Iftikhar Ahmed then joined hands to keep Pakistan alive in the chase. The duo stitched a 27-run stand for the third wicket & kept things under control. Then in the 8.4 over, Rashid khan trapped Rizwan LBW for 20 off 26 balls, reducing Pakistan to 45-3.

Iftikhar Ahmed kept hitting the ball & scoring runs for Pakistan. He was joined by Shadab Khan & the duo stitched a powering 42-run stand to remove Pakistan from a state of dismay. But their happiness couldn’t leave long as Fareed removed Iftikhar for 30 runs off 33 balls, reducing Pakistan to 84-4 in 15.3 overs. Shadab Khan who was handling things brilliantly was sent packing in the 16th over after playing a valorous knock of 36 runs off 26 balls. Mohammad Nawaz (4 off 5) & Asif Ali tried to stabilize Pakistan’s innings but failed as Nawaz was dismissed in the 17th over, reducing Pakistan to 105-6.

Asif Ali (16 off 8) did some fireworks for Pakistan & brought them closer to victory. However, the regular fall of wickets in the 17th & 18th overs put Pakistan under pressure. With 11 runs needed in the final over Naseem Shah stood up & did the job for his side by smashing two huge sixes. Pakistan chased the target in 19.2 overs & registered a nervy one-wicket win.

PAK vs AFG Live Score Asia Cup:  For Afghanistan Fazalhaq Farooqi (3-31) starred with the ball. Fareed Malik (3-31) and Rashid Khan (2-25) too provided him with valuable support.
