The PAK vs ENG 1st Test Day 1 which is no less than a run-fest began with England’s stalwarts Brook & Stokes taking the field on PAK vs ENG 1st Test Day 2 & resuming their innings from 506-4. The moment they marched on the field they were clear that they have to post a mammoth total on board. And they exactly did that by continuing their attacking approach of batting.
Ben Stokes en route an 18 ball 41 runs knock with six fours & two sixes before getting g=clean bowled off Naseem Shah’s delivery reducing Pakistan to 515-5. However, Brook on the other end was going strong as he smashed six fours in Saud Shakeel’s over & scored 153 runs off 116 balls in a beautiful knock embellished with five sixes & 19 fours. Will Jack (30 off 29) & Robinson (37 off 51) too played quick cameos to help in England’s scoreboard. However Pakistani bowlers didn’t lose hope & were scalping regular wickets to wrap England’s innings at 657 in 101 overs. For Pakistan Naseem Shah (3-140), Mohammed Ali (2-124) & Zahid Mahmood (235-4) returned with wickets but conceded huge runs.
In reply, Pakistan started their innings on a high note with grit & determination. After a rigorous five sessions on the field, Pakistan returned to the field to start the second innings with a positive mindset. Both their openers Imam-Ul-Haq & Abdullah Shafique mixed caution with aggression & guided Pakistan to 181-0 by the end of the day. They were in no mood to give up in front of England’s lethal attack & were aiming for a spirited reply to England’s 657-run target.
Imam scored 89 runs off 148 balls with 13 fours while Shafique contributed by amassing 89 runs off 158 balls with 10 fours & 2 sixes. They ensured that Pakistan ends PAK vs ENG 1st Test Day 2 without losing a single wicket. However, due to bad light, the play was stopped with Pakistan’s scoreboard reading 81-0. Around 800 runs were scored in total on a flat lifeless pitch of Rawalpindi. Day 3 will begin on Saturday with Shafique & Haq resuming their innings at 81-0.
