PAK vs ENG 7th T20I Highlights: England beats Pakistan by 67 runs, clinch series by 4-3

PAK vs ENG 7th T20I Highlights: The day was of England who displayed an effective performance to register a 67-run win over Pakistan to clinch the series by a 4-3 score. An all-around show by England helped them to outclass Pakistan in the seventh T20I, registering a historic series win on Pakistan’s homeground.

Malan-Brook guided England to a competitive total

Batting first, England got off to a steady start with their openers Alex Hales (18 off 3) & Phil Salt (20 off 12) scoring runs right from the word go. However, Pakistan didn’t let them score big as they removed both the openers on back-to-back deliveries in the fourth over, reducing England to 39-2 in five overs. However, then came Dawid Malan & Ben Duckett on the crease & the duo resurrected England’s innings.

The duo smashed Pakistan bowlers across the park & stitched a rewarding 54-run stand to take Pakistan over the 100-run mark. However, Pakistan bowlers didn’t give up & struck in the 10th over to remove Duckett for 30 runs off 19 balls. But Malan on the other end was not in the mood to leave things easily. Malan along with Brook formed a stunning left-right pair & stitched a stunning century stand to take England to a mammoth 209 runs total. Harry Brook played an unbeaten knock of 46 off 31 balls with one four & four sixes while Malan played a blistering knock of 78 runs off 47 balls braced with eight fours & three sixes. The duo blitzkrieg helped England to end their innings at 209 in the allotted 20 overs.

PAK succumbed in front of England’s fierce pace attack

In reply, Pakistan get off to a poor start as their star batters Mohammad Rizwan & Babar Azam were sent back to the pavilion in the first two overs of the chase. Iftikhar Ahmed who tried to revive Pakistan’s innings couldn’t capitalize on good starts & was sent packing after scoring 19 runs off 16 balls, reducing Pakistan to 33-3 in six overs.

The required Run-Rate was rising for Pakistan & they were in need of a stable stand. Shan Masood & Khushdil Shah on the crease actually did that by smashing England bowlers across the park. Soon their powering stand was broken when Adil Rashid get the better of Khushdil Shah sending him back to the hut for 27 runs off 25 balls.

Middle-order batters, Asif Ali (7 off 9) & Mohammad Nawaz (9 off 9) too failed to hit the mark as they got dismissed cheaply, reducing Pakistan to 125-5 in 17.4 overs. Wickets kept falling like a pack of cards but Shan Masood was going strong at the other end. He scored 56 runs off 43 balls with four fours & one six keeping the scoreboard ticking for Pakistan. However, single-handedly he couldn’t bear the pressure & was dismissed in the 19th over. Masood’s wicket was the final nail in the coffin for Pakistan as their innings was wrapped in 142-8, handing a 67-run win to England.
