PAK vs ENG Test: Ace Pakistani batsman Azhar Ali has decided to retire from international cricket after the conclusion of the ongoing series against England. Though Pakistan has already lost the series 0-2, the final test is scheduled to take place in Karachi from December 21.
With this decision, Azhar Ali has marked the end of a fabulous and stupendous career for Pakistan. He will truly be glorified in Pakistan’s Hall of Fame as he will finish off as the fifth highest-run getter for the national team after veteran star’s such as Yonus Khan, Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammed Yousuf.
Azhar Ali has been exceptional with the red-ball throughout his career. He has scored 7096 runs in 96 games with 34 half-centuries and 19 centuries. Ali had remained consistent in his batting stint and has a career best average of 42.49.
Ali’s highest score of 302 is the highest individual score by any Pakistani batsman withering pink ball. His first double-century came against Bangladesh in Dhaka whereas he has also smashed a gigantic double-century against the mighty Australians in 2016. His iconic consecutive centuries against Australia in Dubai 2014 is still hailed and praised by all the critics and fans.

Azhar Ali has left a decisive Pakistan batting attack and the space left void by him will unlikely form any better accommodation than the talented batsman. Notably; Ali also ascended the throne of Pakistan’s captaincy in two distinct stints from 2016 to 2020.
Ali addressed the media and expressed his grief over the decision of retirement. He mentioned that it has truly been an honor to play for Pakistan’s national cricket team and he has thoroughly enjoyed batting and contributing for his team.
Ali has shared the dressing room along with some legendary Pakistani cricketers as well as the incumbent champs.
PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja also took to the media and stated that Azhar Ali has been a remarkable contributor for Pakistan’s national team. His heroic efforts will always serve as a grit of determination, patience and perseverance for the upcoming generation.
