Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja has once again created controversy by giving a stern statement to the media. He said that if India won’t travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, then Pakistan will also not fly to India for the 50-over ICC ODI World Cup that is scheduled in the same year.
Earlier in October, BCCI Secretary and Asian Cricket Board (ACB) Chief Jay Shah announced that India won’t travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 and the star-lid event will be held at a neutral venue.
And commenting on India’s stance, Ramiz Raja has made it clear that they will adopt an aggressive approach & will not tour India if they didn’t come to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023. He has strongly supported Pakistan’s astonishing performance on the international stage and mentioned that his team has defeated the billion-dollar cricket board (BCCI) twice in a year, i.e. at the Asia Cup 2022 and the 2021 T-20 World Cup.
India & Pakistan meets only during major ICC Events
The bilateral ties between India and Pakistan have always deteriorated due to the geopolitical situation between the two nations. After 2012, no bilateral series have been conducted between the two sides and the fans desperately miss watching the same. Pakistan and India have always met at major International and Asian events only.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board is strongly resilient in its stint. He further stated that if Pakistan doesn’t come to India, who will watch the World Cup? Emphasizing the growing importance of Pakistan in marquee events.
Ramiz Raja has always been speculative of Pakistan’s economy through cricket. His recent success can be attributed to top nations including South Africa, New Zealand, and West Indies traveling to the subcontinent nation. England is also traveling to Pakistan for a test series starting on December 1.
After Jay Shah’s remarks about a neutral venue for Asia Cup, PCB further stated that “The overall impact of such statements can be harmful and has the potential to split the Asian cricket communities and can also hamper Pakistan’s travel to India for the 2023 World Cup and further ICC events.”
