The Son of the Legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar has made his father & the whole country proud! Following the footsteps of his father, Arjun Tendulkar registered his maiden first-class century in Ranji Trophy 2022 on his first-class debut for Goa against Rajasthan at Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground in Porvorim. He smashed 120 runs off 20 balls on day two of the Fixture against Rajasthan. Back in 1988 Ranji Trophy, Sachin Tendulkar too had smashed his maiden first-class ton on his debut fixture for Mumbai against Gujarat.
Arjun Tendulkar came on the field to bat at No 7 when wicket-keeper batter Eknath Kerkar went back to the pavilion on day one with their score reading as 201 for 5. Arjun ended day one at four off 12 balls. He resumed Day 2 with a bang by weaving a 221-run stand with his partner Suyash Prabhudessai who smashed 212 off 416 balls to register his maiden first-class double ton. At stumps on Day 2 Goa’s scoreboard read 491 off 8 in 163.2 overs against the Rajasthan team which had the likes of Kamlesh Nagarkot & Aniket Choudhary.
For the unversed, Arjun moved to Goa team from Mumbai at the beginning of Rani Trophy 2022 in order to get more game time as he could feature in just two T20s for Mumbai before switching to the Goa team. Arjun’s illustrative journey with the Goa team began with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 where the fast bowler scalped ten wickets in seven matches with an enticing economy rate of 5.69. After returning with these amazing figures, he became Goa’s highest wicket-taker in the SMAT 2022-23 scalping seven wickets at an average of 32.27 & an economy rate of 4.98. Though he is a part of the Mumbai Indians team he is yet to play a game for them.
