‘King Kohli’ rise back to Glory

RCB vs GT Live Score: The ‘Chase Master’ of World Cricket who has been struggling for long to deliver with his willow has bounced back to form in RCB’s clash against Gujarat Titans on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Walking on the crease to open along with Captain Faf Du Plessis, less did the fans know that they would get back their lost ‘Vintage Kohli’ back in today’s fixture.

The stadium was filled with the chants of Kohli’s name & ‘king Kohli’ didn’t fail to treat his fans by scoring a decent score which was awaited for long. Right from the beginning, Virat Kohli was seen in a roaring form. He mixed aggression with calculation & smashed Gujarat Titans bowlers all across the park. He stuck to his basics & played all his patent shots with perfection to bring Gujarat’s fierce bowling attack to the bay.

The perfect cover-drive six, Lofted boundaries and on-point sweep shot all was coming from Kohli’s bat. Kohli’s intent of scoring was well-supported by his luck which guided him to a spectacular 73 off 54 balls in an innings embellished with eight boundaries & two sixes. The lion finally roared back & the crowd greeted the ‘King’ with a standing ovation after his blastic innings of 73 runs off 54 balls.

Virat-Plessis’s proficient knocks guided RCB over the line in 18 overs

In the Chase of 168 runs, Virat Kohli played the role of an aggressor by smashing 73 off 54 balls while he got valuable support on the other end with Faf Du Plessis scoring 44 runs off 38 balls. The duo stitched a perfect 115-run opening stand to get their team to a dominating start. After the dismissal of Faf Du Plessis in the 15th over followed by Virat Kohli in the 16th over, RCB got under pressure. However, Glenn Maxwell on the crease didn’t let the pressure come in his way by finishing with an unbeaten 40 off 18 balls with five boundaries & two sixes guiding RCB over the line in 18.4 overs. For Gujarat Titans, Rashid Khan starred with the ball by returning with figures of two for 32.

Hardik & Miller helped Gujarat Titans to post a respectable total onboard

The match unfolded with Gujarat winning the toss & opting to bat first.  Wriddiman Saha provided Gujarat with a resounding start by scoring 31 off 22 balls. However, soon GT suffered a bit of collapse with opener Shubman Gill getting dismissed cheaply. Then came Matthew Wade on crease who stitched a brief stand with Wriddhiman Saha but got dismissed for LBW after scoring 13-ball 16 runs. Wriddhiman Saha too couldn’t capitalize on a good start & was sent packing after scoring 31 runs off 22 balls. Soon, Gujarat Titans were reeling at 72-3 after completion of 10 overs.

David Miller & Skipper Hardik Pandya joined hands & did the rebuilding job by guiding GT to 118-3 after the 15th over. However, Miller got dismissed after scoring 34 runs off 25 balls with three sixes. However, Hardik Pandya stayed unbeaten on the crease after scoring 62 off 47 balls with four boundaries and three sixes. Rashid Khan on the other end provided a supporting hand to Pandya by scoring 19 runs off six balls with one boundary and two sixes. In the end, the duo guided GT to a respectable 168-5 in the allotted 20 overs. For Bangalore, the best bowler was Josh Hazlewood who scalped two wickets conceding 39 runs.

This win has helped RCB to grab two crucial points & move up to the fourth spot on the Points Table with 16 points in their kitty. However, their qualification depends on the results of the Delhi Capitals & Mumbai Indians clash on Saturday. A loss for Delhi would guarantee RCB a place in the play-offs.
