The International Cricket Council on Monday announced the winners of the ICC Player of the Month award for September 2022. Pakistan opening batting sensation Mohammed Rizwan clinched the ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award while Harmanpreet Kaur won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award.

Rizwan won the prestigious ICC Men’s Player of the Month award on the back of his rewarding performances in September 2022. He surpassed his fellow nominees Cameron green (Australia) & Axar Patel (India) to bag the prestigious accolade.

Mohammed Rizwan amassed 553 runs in ten T20Is which covers his blistering performances during the Asia Cup 2022 & home T20Is series against England. Notably, Rizwan has also registered seven half-centuries during the month of September & proudly occupies the No.1 spot in the ICC T20I Rankings for batters.

Rizwan’s highlight performance came during the second T20I against England when he teamed up with Babar Azam to stitch an unbeaten 88-run stand to guide Pakistan to a historic 10 wickets win chasing a massive total of 199 runs. Undoubtedly Rizwan will be Pakistan’s biggest bet heading into the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

After winning the ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award, Rizwan said, “I would like to thank Almighty Allah and express my heartfelt delight to all that enabled me to achieve this award. I want to thank my teammates as they made performing well easy for me. These achievements boast my confidence & will hope to continue the momentum in the marquee event.”

Former South Africa Player and ICC Player of the Month voting panel member, JP Duminy added, “Mohammad  Rizwan is an outstanding cricketer and his consistency has been amazing. He is a player that continues to inspire many around the world.”

Harmanpreet Kaur won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award for September 2022

There comes India’s very own ‘Harmanpreet Kaur’ who scripts history & made every Indian proud by becoming India’s first women cricketer to win ICC Women’s Player of the Month. Kaur made it possible by leading India Women’s team in a 3-0 series sweep over England.

She was in her absolute best form by scoring 221 runs in three fixtures at a strike rate of 103.47. Her highlight performance in September came during the second ODI when she smashed an unbeaten 143 off 111 balls braced with 18 fours & four sixes. Her astute performance helped India Women to register a mammoth 334 runs total in front of England. Harmanpreet surpassed her teammates Smriti Mandhana & Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana to win the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award for September 2022.

On winning the prestigious accolade, Kaur commented, “It was a great feeling to be nominated for the award and to finally win it. To emerge as a winner when nominated alongside Smriti and Nigar is very humbling. I have always taken immense pride in representing my country and achieving the historic ODI series win in England will remain a major milestone in my entire career.”

Lisa Sthalekar a member of the voting panel said, “The time since Harmanpreet took over the reins of captaincy in all formats, she took the game to another level of success.”
