SA20 Auction: Eight Players in ZAR 1,7,0000 bracket

Several players from different cricket boards have registered themselves for the SA20 Auction. Amongst them, there are some big names who have grabbed the limelight by registering themselves in the highest reserve price category.  Jason Roy, Eoin Morgan, Tymal Mills, Adil Rashid, Jimmy Neesham, Chamika Karunaratne, Odean Smith, and Jayden Seales are the eight players who have registered themselves in the highest reserve price of ZAR 1,700,000 among the 318 players short-listed for the SA20 auction.

Around 52 players have registered themselves under the second highest base price category of ZAR 850,000 in the list. Ten among those players are South African players – Rassie van der Dussen, Tabraiz Shamsi, Dwaine Pretorius, Lungisani Ngidi, Janneman Malan, Rilee Rossouw, Temba Bavuma, Reeza Hendricks, Keshav Maharaj, and Andile Phehlukwayo.

There are 11 Sri Lankan players in the ZAR 850,000 base price bracket, 7 West Indians, 6 Afghanistan players, 2 Australians, 13 England players, 2 from New Zealand, and one Ireland player. Among the players who are short-listed for the SA20 auction, there are players from Australia (3), West Indies (31), England (54), New Zealand (4), Sri Lanka (30), Zimbabwe (3), Scotland (4), Afghanistan (13), Ireland (7), Hong Kong (1), USA (3), Netherlands (4) and Namibia (1).

Meanwhile, the Overseas players list containing 158 players is flooded with the majority of England players while the rest of the 160 players are South African. All six franchises have pre-signed four players each ahead of the SA20 Auction & have ZAR 34 million remaining in their purse. The auction is set to take place in Cape Town on September 19.

“We are thrilled with the interest received from the cricket community to be a part of the SA20. The final list of players has an exciting mix of international stars, the class of Proteas players, and upcoming talent waiting to make a name for themselves on a global stage. We are looking forward to the auction and seeing how the squads are formed for this exciting first edition of the SA20,” SA20 League Commissioner Graeme Smith said.

SA20 league will face fierce competition from UAE’s ILT20 as both the leagues are slated to be played during the same window from January-February 2023. Which league would garner maximum attention of cric-fans is what time will say.
