WTC Final, Day 4 Live Updates: It’s raining in Southampton, chances for a complete Washout


WTC Final Day 4 Live Updates: Another day of complete washout is the probability at Ageas Bowl in Southampton. It’s currently raining in Southampton & as per the UK MET Office, the rainy conditions are likely to remain the same throughout the Day 4 of the ICC WTC Final. This means the Indian Captain Virat Kohli may not have to chance to dismiss Kane Williamson & Ross Taylor quickly & put pressure on New Zealand.

The BCCI took to Twitter, to inform the fans about the delay in the start of Day 4 of the WTC Final. The BCCI wrote, “It continues to drizzle and we have to state the obvious. Start of play on Day 4 has been delayed #WTC21”.

The Black Caps also took to twitter & giving updates about its player’s the Black Caps tweeted, “Wet weather has returned to the Hampshire Bowl so it’s table tennis for now… #WTC21”.

Earlier on Monday morning, Dinesh Karthik who is currently doing commentary in the WTC said that the situation at the Ageas Bowl didn’t look good. Dinesh Karthik posted a weather update on his Twitter account & captioned it as, “Not great atm”.

Earlier on Day 3, Devon Conway & Kane Williamson managed to frustrate the Indian bowlers & as a result, New Zealand was leading on Day 3 of the ongoing WTC Final on Sunday. On Day 3, at stumps, New Zealand’s score was 101/2 with New Zealand Captain, Kane Williamson playing at 12 & Ross Taylor for 0 unbeaten at the crease. The Black Caps are still trailing India by 116 runs.

In the first innings, India was wrapped up for 217 runs as Kyle Jamieson registered a five wickets haul. During the first innings, Ajinkya Rahane was the highest scorer for India who scored 49 runs. Shubman Gill managed to score 28 runs in the first inning while Captain Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma scored 44 & 34 runs respectively.

However, Day 1 of the WTC final was abandoned due to continuous drizzle, while Day 2 saw early stumps called off due to bad light. A decision whether to use Reserve day in the ongoing WTC final or not will be taken on the fifth day afternoon.
