WTC Final: India & New Zealand are all set to come into a face-off in the final of the WTC at Southampton starting from June 18. The WTC final is a great opportunity of boosting the age-old test cricket in the International arena.

On Tuesday both the India & New Zealand team announced their 15 player squads for the marquee event in Southampton.  New Zealand Captain, Kane Willaimson who was ruled out of the second test against England due to an injury, will return to the squad for the WTC final. The Indian openers such as KL Rahul & Mayank Agarwal will not feature in India’s 15 player squad. Rohit Sharma & Shubman will open the batting for India in place of Rahul & Mayank.

Ahead of the WTC Final, New Zealand’s batsman Ross Taylor said that the Indian team is full of world-class players. And the way India has projected itself in recent years, especially against Australia is incredible.

“India has been a fantastic side for a long period, their series win against Australia during the opponent’s home summer was great to watch. We saw world-class Indian bowling against a top-quality Australian side. They got success in England as well,” said Taylor. Ross feels that the top-quality Indian bowlers could be a threat to New Zealand’s batting order in the final of the WTC.

“We know the match will be very tough for us because when you go through the Indian line-up, they have top quality players in all departments, and have been the world number side for a longer period of time. We play them at home, away or at a neutral venue they will challenge us every time,” Taylor added.

Though the Indian Cricket team hasn’t won any ICC trophy under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. They have consistently dominated test cricket since 2015. The marquee WTC final will begin on June 18 in Ageas Bowl at Southampton.
