India Playing XI for WTC Final against New Zealand

The BCCI on Thursday announced India’s Playing XI for the WTC final against New Zealand. Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah who did not feature in the test against England have been included in the Playing XI for the WTC final.

Jadeja was ruled out of the Test & limited-overs series against England due to a shoulder injury. While Bumrah was released from the squads ahead of the last match of the four-match test series as he was getting married to sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan.

Shubman Gill who excelled in the intra-squad match at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton will open the innings for India along with Rohit Sharma who will partner Shubman Gill at the top of the batting order. The openers will be followed by Cheteshar Pujara, captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane as was expected. Rishabh Pant who has been in spectacular form in the last few series is selected for the wicketkeeper’s role in the final squad ahead of the well-experienced Wriddhiman Saha.

India has opted for two spinners Ravichandran Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja in the spin department. While the pace department will have Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Ishant Sharma. Mohammed Shami who has missed seven test matches after suffering an injury on his hand while facing Cummins in Adelaide during India’s tour of Australia has been selected ahead of youngster Mohammed Siraj.

Hanuma Vihari, Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Wriddhiman Saha are the players out of the 15 player squad, who haven’t been included in the final Playing XI for the marquee clash against New Zealand.
