WTC Final Live Updates: The much-awaited WTC Final between India & New Zealand is all set to kick start today at the Ageas Bowl stadium in Southampton.
The marquee final between the world’s two top sides in Cricket will determine the fate of the inaugural WTC trophy. The Captain of both sides, Virat & Williamson are yet to win a major ICC Tournament. While Kohli lost the much desired ICC Champions Trophy final in the year 2017 & remained just one step behind in clinching an ICC tournament. New Zealand also suffered a defeat in the final of the ICC ODI World Cup to England in 2019. The Captains of both the sides will desperately want to add one missing feather in their cap by winning the ICC WTC Final. Both the teams aim at winning the inaugural season of the WTC Final & write their name in golden words in the history of Test Cricket.
Fans are also eagerly waiting to see both sides go head to head on the grounds of Ageas Bowl. But the weather forecast in Southampton may play a spoilsport in one of the biggest clashes of the year. Throughout the WTC Final, it is predicted that there will be cloud cover in Southampton with the prediction of rain on all five days of the WTC final match.
According to the Weather Forecast, there is around a 65% chance of rain on the first day, followed by 60 percent on Day 2. Day 3 sees a drop in the prediction with a 56 percent chance of rain, with 65 percent on Day 4 and 63 percent on Day 5. The weather forecast of Reserve Day i.e. June 23 has fewer chances of rain.
Currently, it’s drizzling in Southampton. And it is predicted that the start of the WTC Final could be delayed due to wet pitch. The situation at the Ageas Bowl hasn’t changed much as the pitch is still under the covers due to rain. Dinesh Karthik who is currently doing commentary for Sky Sports said that the situation is not looking good for a timely start. Whereas, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ritika Sajdeh (Rohit Sharma’s wife) all have posted updates on their Instagram handle, hoping for the rain to stop & are optimistic about a start.

Considering all the news & updates from Southampton, it seems that the situation needs to change drastically for the match to start at the scheduled time. The match is slated to start at 3 pm IST. however, the weather forecast doesn’t offer the surety of the marquee clash to start on time. The MET department of the UK has given a yellow alert for a thunderstorm on Friday while it is predicted that drizzling will continue throughout the next five days of the WTC Final.
