However, the stunning match-winning partnership between Mendis (60) and Shanka (45) helped the Sri Lankan tribe to get back on track. The two added 64-runs for the fifth wicket to help Sri Lanka survive in the chase of 174 runs.
In the end, diligent cameos from Karunaratne (18) and Fernando (10) took Sri Lanka through as they managed to chase the target in 19.3 overs.
For Bangladesh, Ebadot Hossain starred in the bowling attack by scalping 3 wickets for 51 runs. Taskin Ahmed (2/24) grabbed two wickets whereas Mustafizur Rahman (1/32) and Mahedi Hasan (1/30) settled for a wicket apiece. The Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2022 will kick start on September 3 with finals scheduled on 11th September.
