This “Unprecedented times”, can hit the Men’s T20 World Cup!

Amidst Coronavirus Pandemic around the world the major sporting events have been cancelled or called off, Former England Captain Michael Vaughan strongly believes that the Coronavirus Pandemic has created ‘unprecedented times’ which can also affect the commencement of Men’s T20 World Cup, which is to be held in Australia at the end of this year.

The Coronavirus Pandemics has affected various sporting events around the globe including the Olympics being called off till next year. The COVID-19 outbreak has resulted in almost 20,000 deaths across the globe and brought the whole world to a standstill. The cricketing world has also been drastically affected with the major tournaments getting postponed or cancelled.

“The crucial thing when we talk about cricket is that it is really a secondary thing to what is happening to the people around the world, the hardships which people are facing due to COVID-19 is far beyond cricket tournaments”, Vaughan told to media on Thursday.

“We all might be thinking that the situation will improve in few days but in reality, you never know what will happen next”, Vaughan said about the T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be held in October and November.

“ These are truly unpredictable times, a few days before we are thinking that it’s a bad form of the flu but later we came to know that the reality is far more worst than that. The advice which are getting is changing everyday”, he added.

While Cricket Australia Chief Kevin Roberts earlier said that the T20 World Cup could be played on the given schedule. “We cricketers are hoping that all the sports can be played again in few weeks or few months and everything will get to normalcy and we will be able to play Men’s T20 World Cup”, Roberts said to a leading cricket website.

On March 8, the finals of Women’s T20 World Cup between India and Australia in MCG ground witnessed a crowd of 86,000 audiences and seeing the overwhelming response from Women’s World Cup the Cricket Australia is expecting the same response for the final of men’s event to be played on November 15.

“We are planning on November 15, to have loads of audiences at the MCG grounds to witness men’s cricket to inspire the world as the Women’s cricketers did during the finals of T20 World Cup”, Roberts said.
