Tuba Hassan, Misbah Maroof are among the nominees for ICC Women’s Player of the Month for May

The ICC have released the nominees for their prestigious Player of the Month Award. Bismah Maroof & Tuba Hassan from Pakistan Women’s team & Jersey’s all-rounder Trinity Smith are nominated for the ICC Womne’s Player of the Month award for May on Monday.

Let’s have a look at the nominees stellar performances in the Month of May

Captain Bismah Maroof led her team from the fore-front in their T20I series defeat against Sri Lanka & ended the series as the highest run-scorer by amassing 65 runs in all the three T20Is. She walked out by donning the jersey of a savior & amassed crucial runs in all the three T20Is to guide her team to victory in dire situations. In the first t20I, she scored 28 runs off 32 balls taking her team over the line in style. Similarly in the second T20I, she repeated the heroics from the first T20I & scored 22 runs off 29 balls. In the final match, Maroof guided her team home in a dire situation, She scored 15* off 15 balls to take her team over the victory line, bagging the ‘Player of the match’ award for her stellar innings.

Tuba Hassan:

Leg-spinner Tuba Hassan grabbed the eyeballs by winning the player of the series award right in her first International fixture against Sri Lanka by ending the series as the highest wicket-taker in the T20I series. She had a dream debut by returning with figures of 3-8 in the first T20I. However, she could scalp just one wicket each in the next two matches but was economical in her spells, conceding 13 & 23 runs in her spell of four overs each. He heroics with the ball right in her maiden International fixture helped her to become the nominee for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award for May.

Trinity Smith

Jersey’s 17-year-old teenager, Trinity Smith made her debut against France in the quadrangular series that also involved Spain & Australia. She was able to produce scintillating performances with both bat & the ball. In the first fixture, she was able to amass an unbeaten 59* off 43 balls & returned with 2 wikcets for 18 runs in her spell of four overs. The right-arm medium pacer again proved her mettle by hitting unbetaen 56 off 40 balls & sclaling a wicket to help her team sweep the series with 4-0.  Smith played an integral role in their series win by smashing 120 runs at a strike rate of 136.36 with the bat & also picked four wickets in four matches at an economy rate of 6.58.
