Finally the England Pace-man, Stuart Broad achieves his target of grabbing 500 wickets in test cricket & becomes the seventh bowler to reach the 500 Test wicket mark.
Stuart broad joined the exclusive 500 wicket taking bowler’s club on Tuesday after grabbing his most desirable 500th wicket. Stuart also became the seventh bowler to reach the remarkable 500th Test wicket mark, and this became possible for Stuart after sending West Indies Opener Kraig Brathwaite back to pavilion with a LBW at just 19 runs at Old Trafford on the 5th day of the third test match. Stuart’s desirable wicket also helped England to hail victory & win the series with a 2-1 score.
Broad has been left stranded on 499 wickets as after taking eight wickets in this match when only one wicket was left for Broad achieving 500 wicket mark the sudden showers spoilt the entire day of Monday with the match getting postponed. However on Tuesday he achieved that 500th wicket mark after getting Brathwaite LBW. West Indies hopes went away along with Brathwaite’s exit as Windies were left with a huge target of 399 to hail victory.
By achieving this glorious 500th Test wicket mark Stuart clearly proved the ECB for omitting him in the first test match at Southampton which England lost by 4 wickets. However Stuart by showing an out worldly performance in the second & third test match of the series fulfills his unsaid pledge of taking his side to victory.
Along with Broad the other bowlers who enjoys the membership of 500th Test wicket bowlers club are Anderson (589 wickets) and Australia’s Glenn McGrath (563) and the West Indies’ Courtney Walsh (519), both of whom are retired.
