Jason Holder who picked seven wickets including six whopping wickets for 42 runs in the first innings is now on a career-best 862 rating points, the best which any West Indies bowler has achieved since Courtney Walsh’s tally of 866 in August 2000.
Jason Holder on Tuesday achieved the highest rating points by any West Indies bowler in 20 years reaching a career-best second place in the ICC Test Player Rankings after leading his team to a famous win over England at Southampton. A holder who picked seven wickets including six wickets for 42 runs in the first innings has achieved his career-best rating points i.e 862, the best points achieved by any West Indies bowler since Courtney Walsh’s tally of 866 in August 2000. However Indian Cricketers who didn’t hit the pitch since March due to the coronavirus pandemic have successfully retained their position in the top 10 batsmen & bowlers rankings.
Skipper Kohli remains second in the batsmen rankings behind Steve Smith while Cheteshwar Pujara & Ajinkya Rahane remains on seventh & Ninth position. Jasprit Bumrah is the only Indian bowler in the top-10 at the seventh spot. Jason remained at 35th position among batsmen after the first test & has also reached his career-best tally of 485 points at the top of the all-rounder’s list.
The competition at the top position remains high as Ben Stokes who is at number two has made huge gains to attain a career-best tally of 431 points narrowing the lead from 66 to 54 points. Stokes is leading the team in the absence of Joe Root has achieved his career-high ninth position among the batsmen that he achieved last November after scores of 43 & 46 at the Ageas Bowl. He is just one position behind Root. Stokes has also raised up to 23rd position with six wickets in the match.
Other England players who moved upwards on the rankings are the left-handed opener, Rory Burns, who is in the top 30 for the first time after he scored 30 & 42 while middle-order batsman Zak Crawley is in the top 100 after accumulating 86 runs in the match.
In Windies, Shannon Gabriel has grabbed 46 points & reached a tally of 726 & scalped overwhelming nine wickets but risen only one place to 18th position owing to the wide gap between him and Ravindra Jadeja (722) before the match. Whereas Jermaine Black-wood’s superb second innings of 95 runs helped him to rise up 14th slots to 58th position among batsmen while Shane Dowrich is at a career-best 37th position after scores of 61 and 20.
