Who is Himanshu Sharma?
Himanshu Sharma is a budding cricketer from the Indian state of Rajasthan. Sharma, 24, was born on 6th June 1998 in Rupagarh town in the Sikar district of Rajasthan. Himanshu had kick-started his career in cricket with an aspiration to become a batsman. However, he eventually turned out to be an excellent leg-spinner. Sharma is a right-handed bowler as well as a batsman.
Interestingly, Himanshu Sharma has never played any form of competitive cricket in his entire career. He has only played club-level cricket and has represented his club and college in local tournaments. Himanshu bowls with exceptional action and has a deviating spin to break the shackles of any batsman’s defense.

Himanshu had begun his cricketing journey after enrolling at the Jaipuria Cricket Academy under coach Rohan Jhalani. Jhalani pampered Sharma and guided him to emerge as a prolific leg-spinner. Jhalani’s noteworthy assistance in the development of Himanshu is highly acclaimed by the young spinner.
On the other side, Himanshu Sharma is also a very dedicated, hard-working, and passionate athlete. Sharma toils a total of 7 to 8 hours on the field in morning & evening to polish his skills. His first breakthrough of a budding career was winning a Gold Medal after a marvelous performance at the University Championship in 2018.

Himanshu has achieved a stunning milestone in his evolving career after he was picked by heavyweight IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore at the recently concluded auctions in Kochi on December 23. Sharma was bagged by RCB for his base price of Rs. 20 Lakhs.
Notably, Himanshu was RCB’s second pick at the mini-auctions for the 2023 season. Sharma will now feature alongside veteran Indian cricketers including Virat Kohli, and Mohammed Siraj, and ace overseas talents such as Glenn Maxwell, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Josh Hazlewood.

Addressing the media on Sharma’s acquisition, the Head of Scouting at RCB Malolan Rangarajan stated that Himanshu is an eccentric and exceptional talent. His inclusion in RCB’s squad will bring more depth to the bowling attack and will also provide the management with an alternative spinning option that is vital in subcontinent conditions.
Malolan also added by saying that they had identified Himanshu a year back and have been tracking his performance since then. Sharma was then invited to a camp with existing RCB players where he bowled stupendously and impressed lead support staff including head coach Sanjay Bangar and bowling coach Sriram.
Himanshu will truly be given an important opportunity ahead of the upcoming season. Sharma will likely aim to exploit the same and prove his caliber in front of the world.
