WI W vs ENG W: West Indies Women announces 14 Member Squad for three-match ODI Series against England to be played from December 4 to 9 in Antigua. And the illustrious series will mark the return of prolific players Shemaine Campbelle & Kycia Knight to the West Indies Squad.
Every coin has two sides & that is the case with the West Indies squad as well. On one side the squad will welcome their two most experienced players who are making a comeback after recovering from an injury. On the other side, they will miss the services of their all-rounder Stafanie Taylor who is yet to recover from an injury that she sustained during West Indies third ODI against New Zealand held in September.
Schultz walks in, Knight, Connell & McClean walkout
The National selectors have decided to give uncapped spinner Kaysia Schultz a chance to play for the National team by naming her in the 14-member squad. Schultz had participated in West Indies ten days training camp during the New Zealand ODI series but failed to make the cut into the final squad of the series. On the other hand uncapped players, Kyshona Knight, Shamilla Connell, Natasha McLean & the fast bowler Jannillea Glasgow who were a part of the final squad for the New Zealand series failed to book their place in the 14-member squad for England ODI Series.
The series is of great importance for both West Indies & England as it is a part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25. Both the teams had begun their Women’s Championship Campaign on a poor note after suffering a defeat in a series against New Zealand & England respectively. West Indies suffered a 2-1 loss to New Zealand while England was defeated by India (3-0). West Indies is currently occupying the fifth position on the Women’s Championship Points table while England is placed in the second last eighth position on the table. The top five teams at the end of the 2022-25 Women’s Championship Cycle will qualify for the Women’s World Cup 2025 in India.
