India Women Vs England Women: Indian Women’s team captain Mithali Raj on Tuesday said that she doesn’t want to burden the young players with the pressure of expectations & she wants the entire team to just play freely & enjoy the moment.

India Women & England women will come into a face-off in a one-off test starting from June 16 at Bristol, followed by a three-match ODI & T20I series. “We don’t want to burden young players with expectations. We just want them to play their game freely & enjoy it to the fullest”, said Mithali Raj while replying to a query during a virtual press conference.

When Mithali was asked about her view on playing multi-format series against England, Mithali said, “this test match & the pink ball tets is the beginning of our multi-format tours. Ask any player, they all want to play test matches. We hope to see all the bi-laterals played with all three formats & hopefully it one day leads to a Women’s test Championship”.

Mithali Raj also revealed that the team hasn’t decided on the Playing XI yet & the final decision will be taken on the morning of the test match.

“It has been seven years since the last test & most players played white-ball cricket since then predominantly in those years. We have tried to get as much as practice with the red ball in the last few days”, she added.

The Indian team is touring England for the first time after the 2017 ODI World Cup final. In that match, the Indian women’s team had faced a defeat at the hands of England. Mithali Raj said that the experience of the players who were a part of the 2017 ODI World Cup will be a benefit for them. And as a team, they all are looking forward to playing the one-off test match which will start tomorrow. She also said that it is a great opportunity for the Indian Women’s team to play all three formats in the series.

The Indian women’s team is on the verge of achieving a remarkable feat, if they will beat England in the one-off test match then the Indian Women’s team will achieve the record of registering the most successive test victories in Women’s Cricket.
