Indian Women’s team players to assemble in Bengaluru for a camp ahead of the Australia Series

Ahead of the multi-format series against Australia, a group of 30 Indian women’s team players will be assembling in Bengaluru for a camp.

“Yes, there is a camp tomorrow onwards, it is a five days quarantine in Bengaluru & then the camp will start from Monday (August 16)”, sources in the know of developments told ANI. Meanwhile, five Indian players- Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma & Jemimah Rodrigues who are playing in the inaugural edition of the Hundred will be joining the camp next week.

India & Australia will come into a face-off in three ODIs, a one-off test & three T20Is in September-October this year. The women’s team will leave for Australia from Bengaluru either on August 29 or 30 & then the entire squad will spend two weeks of mandatory quarantine after reaching Australia. The 30 Indian women’s team players gathering in Bengaluru comprises the core of the 21 member squad that toured the UK in June-July this year & players from the preceding limited-overs series against South Africa held in march will also feature in the camp.

Fitness & match simulation would be the focus of the camp & intra-squad pink ball matches will be held in order to prepare the team for the one-off Test. India locked horns with England in the one0off test against England but the team suffered a series loss in the ODI & T20Is format against England Women’s team.

Meanwhile, India’s ODI captain Mithali Raj regained the top spot in the ICC Women’s Rankings list released on 20th July. It was the ninth time when Mithali grabs the top spot among batters in the ICC Women’s Rankings list. She first occupied the top spot more than 16 years ago after West Indies Captain Stafanie Taylor slipped to the first position.
