Zimbabwe’s U-19 Team is currently practicing in Mumbai to get accustomed to the subcontinent conditions ahead of the 2023 U-19 World Cup that is scheduled to be hosted in Sri Lanka. The courtesy of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) helped Zimbabwe Cricket to host a brief training camp in the dream city of Mumbai.
While the frontline Indian team is busy with the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh, incumbent skipper Rohit Sharma had been ruled out of the series after sustaining a grievous thumb injury. He is currently undergoing specialized treatment and rehabilitation in his hometown of Mumbai.
Notably, Rohit Sharma visited Zimbabwe’s U-19 Camp after their practice match at the Bandra-Kurla Complex ground. Sharma aimed to educate the young guns from Zimbabwe to gain valuable insight of the subcontinent conditions and provided his expert advice in a crucial time for the emerging team.

Zimbabwe Cricket’s technical director Lalchand Rajput had arranged the visit of veteran Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma. Zimbabwe’s U-19 Team was truly awestruck by Sharma’s visit and benefited from the experience of the star batsman which clarified many doubts about the subcontinent conditions.
Addressing the media, Lalchand Rajput, who also scheduled Zimbabwe’s training camp in Mumbai said that it is truly important for the young boys to get used to the adverse conditions in the subcontinent. Not only cricket and pitches, but it is also important to get accustomed to the food, environment, and societal conditions around. The Zimbabwe U-19 Team was highly motivated and appreciated the gesture of Lalchand Rajput and also the high-profile visit of Rohit Sharma.
Zimbabwe’s U-19 Skipper Utseya also addressed the media alongside Rajput and said that it was very generous of Rohit Sharma to join us in the changing room and help us with his insightful experience. He further added by stating that Sharma is an inspiration for every player on the side and his knowledge-sharing will truly provide a stunning output at the marquee event.
